Creationism vs Evolution
Aye, there's a debate if you like one. Here at college there is a superb movement for crediting evolution and everyone just hates those intelligent design morons. :( Therefore, because I'm a supporter of Intelligent Design I cannot therefore be a scientific, objective, rational person cos I purport a theory that is based on nothing.
Haha. Oh dear, well even with evolution, I still think the conditions are too great to occur by chance - is that intelligent design? I don't think anyone ever said God waved a magic wand and pulled the universe out of a hat. I mean of course we could get into the whole discourse of probability, evolution mechanics, intelligent life, origins etc etc. And each side would still be convinced that their proof, methods and conclusions are unquestionable. No one sees the holes in their own theories, only holes in the other one. Kinda sad yeah?

Still, most people have at least come to the understanding that evolution does not discount God. Which I was pleased to hear.

However an interesting thought came to me this morning as I took a shower (the best place to come up with great ideas)

Once upon a time the sun revolved around the earth. Yep, and it was really obvious too. How would you dare argue with anyone before the time of Copernicus that the earth revolved around the sun? Logic demanded this. Sure some people noticed silly things. Venus liked to move retrograde every few years or so was noticed by even the early Greeks. But small anomalies like this could not dissuade you from the fact everyday you saw the sun roll across the sky.

Today the earth revolves around the sun. It is ludicrous to say otherwise. Yet, if Einstein was correct and everything is relative, everything is merely moving relative to one another and it is imprecise to say anything revolves around anything unless you first state a point of reference. Perhaps, one day we will laugh at those ancient people who thought the earth revolved around the sun.

What I'm trying to get at is this. We still know jack shit. Yeah, yeah start standing up and yelling we do know a lot more now. Carl Sagan says in his book that if a man from the year 1000 were brought into 2000 he would die from lack of understanding. And went on to say if a man from 2000 went to the year 3000 he wouldn't die because we are reaching the limits of discovery. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I'm sorry that's bullshit. Life, existence and concepts are hurtling forward at unbelievable rates and the holes in our knowledge are still abysmal.

So evolution vs creationism. Yah, go ahead, throw around the facts and wave fancy documents at each other. Scream, whine and bitch about how unreasonable and blinded the other side is. One by their faith in the mouldering, corrupted, brain dead church. The other by their hatred for God and the church, their love to find excuses to not believe and refusal to see all the problems with their wonderful evolution.

Sigh...

Evolution is still a theory. And since we have a lot of disagreements, I dare say it's not a perfected theory (and don't no one start going off about how it is complete and absolutely wonderful because it's still called THE THEORY of evolution) And please open up guys. What if God planned for evolution to occur? What if he did want you to come from an ape? What if the Genesis tales are in fact meant to be allegorical? Scientific discoveries do largely point at evolution but the sun doesn't have to revolve around the earth, get it?

Faith isn't about not doubting.
Faith is all about doubting. Having faith is not about believing that there is a net at the bottom of the cliff. Faith is about jumping off the cliff no matter the doubts.

Don't you just love SWOT vac?
